Years 11–12 Chemistry

Specialist One-to-One Chemistry Support in Bondi Junction and Online

Over 20 Years Working Individually With Teenagers, Informed by HSC Marking Experience

Prestige Academy provides structured Years 11–12 and HSC Chemistry tutoring for students whose results are inconsistent, below what their ability suggests, or who are ready to perform at a higher level.

Before determining the teaching program, we examine what the student already understands, what their school assessments require and where their Chemistry performance is breaking down.

The student’s program then focuses on the concepts, calculations, application skills and assessment requirements that should be addressed first.

Establishing the Starting Point

We examine the student’s recent Chemistry results, relevant schoolwork and current understanding to establish what they already know and where marks are being lost.

This helps distinguish genuine gaps in understanding from difficulties with calculations, application, written responses or assessment preparation.

Designing the Priority Program

The program is structured around the student’s school sequence, upcoming assessments and the areas requiring attention first.

Teaching may focus on conceptual understanding, calculations, practical investigations and data analysis, written responses or applying Chemistry to unfamiliar questions.

Teaching, Application and Review

Concepts are taught in depth and then applied through carefully selected questions and school assessment preparation.

Understanding is tested in different contexts, errors are corrected and later school results provide evidence of academic progress.

Strong Chemistry Performance Requires More Than Memorising Content

Understand the Chemistry

Students need to understand how chemical ideas connect—from particles, bonding and reactions to calculations, practical evidence and observable changes. Memorising definitions is not enough when the student cannot explain what is occurring or why.

Apply the Chemistry

School assessments require students to select and apply relevant chemical concepts when questions are presented in unfamiliar ways. Students must connect knowledge, calculations, experimental evidence and data rather than rely only on memorised examples.

Demonstrate the Chemistry

Marks can be lost through imprecise terminology, incomplete calculations, weak interpretation of data or responses that do not address the question at the required depth. Students learn to communicate their Chemistry knowledge accurately and clearly.

What the Chemistry Program May Include

The exact program and resources depend on the student’s Academic Performance Analysis, year level, school program and assessment priorities.

  • Individual one-to-one Chemistry sessions

  • A priority program based on the student’s current understanding

  • Structured module resources and selected homework

  • Targeted school assessment and examination preparation

  • Chemistry calculations and unfamiliar-question practice

  • Practical investigations and data-analysis support

  • Review of relevant previous assessments and recurring errors

  • Development of precise scientific writing and terminology

  • Carefully selected school-style and HSC-style questions
